Xmas Tractor with Lights Parade 

A magical festive favourite returns! Join us for the Christmas Tractor Parade, where brightly lit tractors travel from Dolgellau to Barmouth, ending in Porthmadog, lighting up the night with Christmas cheer.

Expect twinkling lights, festive displays, and a brilliant community atmosphere — perfect for families, little ones, and anyone who loves a Christmas sparkle.

Slate Splitting Weekend at Llanfair Slate Caverns

Join us at Llanfair Slate Caverns for a fascinating weekend of traditional craftsmanship with Alan Hicks, an experienced slate splitter, on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August.

Watch Alan at work as he demonstrates the skill of slate splitting – a craft deeply rooted in the heritage of this area. Stop for a chat, learn about the process, and discover the history behind Harlech’s slate industry.

For younger visitors, there’s slate decorating running all weekend – a hands-on way for children to get creative and take home a unique souvenir

Visit us  for our annual underground Christmas Fair. Wander through the caverns and choose some amazing presents from a range of local suppliers offering a wide range of unique gifts and the best of Welsh Food & Drink. Join in with Christmas carols and mulled wine, plus entry includes a festive mince pie!

Santa's grotto must be booked in advance – come and have a chat with Santa and receive a free gift plus a slate decoration!

Light Up Harlech & Late Night Shopping

Harlech is turning up the festive magic this year with a Christmas celebration you won’t want to miss! Join us on  Saturday 29th November for a sparkling evening of late-night shopping across the High Street, with stores open until 8pm and serving mince pies and mulled wine in support of local charities. The festivities start at 5pm with a lantern parade led by Santa and Mary & Joseph, making its way through the High Street to the castle, which will be lit up with dazzling seasonal flair and falling snowflakes. The castle car park will be transformed for the evening, hosting a marquee and stage where a Tom Jones Tribute will officially switch on the lights, alongside performances from the Harlech Ladies Choir and the children of Harlech Primary School. Don’t miss the Christmas Craft Fair in Harlech earlier in the day, open until 4pm.
